Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the E-Cigg
The new and ever changing world of electronic cigarettes can be quite overwhelming. There are new terms to learn, equipment to become familiar with, maintenance procedures, and modification options, all of which can vary from brand to brand, model to model, retailer to retailer, or person to person. This guide is meant to provide you with a basic understanding of the most popular electronic cigarette (e-cig) models so you can make informed decisions when it comes to purchasing and upgrading equipment.
Understanding how it works and what it all means.
Ohms- (or sometimes seen by the latin symbol "omega" Ω )- it is a term for electrical "Resistance"..
Not to bore you, I will simplify and give you a better understanding of not just resistance but "electricity" too. Hopefully, it will help a lot of you with vaping products as they continue to evolve.
Volts- voltage is electrical pressure
Amps- is electrical potential
Think of all this, as fluid going through a hose.. Even easier think of this hose being connected to a keg of beer. The amount of beer in the keg would be the amount of total "Amps". The amount of air you pump into the keg through the tap would be the "Volts". The beer traveling through the hose as you press the valve/spout, is your "Electricity". If you want to fill your cup with beer faster, you pump the tap, increasing the pressure or (Volts) causing the beer to move through the hose quicker.
Keep in mind the hose you have connected to the tap and spout is a certain length and diameter. Just because the beer comes out the hose quicker doesn't mean there is actually more beer within the space of the hose. This balance (of volts and amps or air and beer) is considered the total amount of Power you have or (watts) available.
Now, let's say that it's getting late and the keg is getting empty. You decide that you're going to continue to pump the tap over and over, building a massive amount of pressure (or volts) but the hose can't handle the amount of volumes you've created and begins to stretch and bulge, creating heat and causing the beer to foam but not actually pushing more beer through the hose and into your cup. This would be the amount of/or definition of "Resistance".
So when I say to choose a low resistance clearo, carto, or atomizer, it's basically just like saying replace the keg hose with a larger one, which will allow more (beer) or electricity to flow through it easier, resulting in more (beer) or in your case Vapor. Which also means your vaping device doesn't have to push harder or more power through the wire of the coil of the atomizer to create more vapor.
So what is resistance again? It is the same relation to the size of the hose on the tap as it is to the size wire coiled inside your atty clearo, or carto.. The larger the wire diameter, the lower resistance atty and vise verse. So the next time you see the resistance listed of an atty, clearo, or cartomizer, think of it as the size wire inside that atty etc.. Also think of it as the amount vapor that the power of your device will produce.
This is most importantly if you have a device that puts out a regulated amount of power (such as a standard eGo, or 3.7 volt device) because your device can't increase or decrease the amount of power. The amount of vapor is going to be dependent on the resistance of the atty, clearo, or carto you use.. a lower resistance atty ect. will produce more vapor and with less power.
Variable Voltage devices were created to help increase the flow of electricity through an Atomizer etc., without having to worry about the amount of resistance (low or high) of the atty connected to your device. So if it's lower resistance, you will turn your volts down and if it's a higher resistance atty, you'll turn your volts up to create the desired amount of vapor.
